USDA Hardiness Zones 7 - 9, Height 2 - 3 Feet, Spread 2 - 3 FeetFull Sun (At Least 6 Hours of Direct Sunlight)Beyond Pinkd Bluebeard is a new bluebeard variety (Caryopteris incana) that draws bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds to pretty pink flower clusters from late summer through mid-fall. Most Caryopteris shrubs have purple blooms, a pretty but more common color in plant choices. With Beyond Pinkd, gardeners can enjoy plenty of pink power on a compact shrub that pollinators love and deer ignore. This shrub will bloom a long time with little effort and can handle both late summer heat and periods of drought. It grows to nearly 30 inches high and around in a mounded shape. With its delicate summer blooms and fall interest, the little shrub works well in mixed borders or as a featured plant in a container or in the landscape. Aside from its pollinator-attracting properties, this pink bluebeard produces pretty cut or dried flowers.Beyond Pink'd Bluebeard CarePlant Beyond Pinkd Bluebeard in full sun and average soil that drains well. Water the new plant well, and then gradually increase time between watering. Be sure not to plant your Caryopteris in a low-lying spot or other poorly draining area. Soggy soil can cause it to rot. Typically, the shrub needs no fertilizer, but it can benefit from application of some organic compost to the soil each year, especially if grown in a container. There is no need to deadhead your bluebeard for continuous blooming. The faded flowers provide fall interest on the shrub or added to dried flower arrangements. Simply prune the shrub in spring after new, healthy growth begins to appear. Cut the plant just above the new growth, typically about halfway down. Prune it to a round shape if desired and the plant still will maintain a natural appearance.Beyond Pink'd Bluebeard SpacingWhen planting Beyond Pinkd with other perennials for a mixed border, space the center of the caryopteris at least 24 inches from the center of the other plant, depending on its mature size. For a mass of pink blooms, space several of these bluebeards 24 to 30 inches apart, and be ready to enjoy lots of bee and butterfly traffic.Beyond Pink'd Bluebeard InformationUSDA Hardiness Zones: 7-9Plant Type: ShrubSunlight Exposure: Full SunMature Height: 2 - 3 FeetMature Width: 2 - 3 FeetPlant Spacing: 2 - 3 FeetGrowth Habit: MoundedFlower Color(s): PinkSeasonal Interest: Late Summer Early Fall Mid FallFoliage Type: DeciduousFoliage Color(s): Dark GreenAttracts: Bees, Butterflies, HummingbirdsResists: DeerTolerates: Heat, DroughtFeatures: Attracts Pollinators, Cut Flowers, Low MaintenanceUses: Border Plant Cut Flower Dried Flower Landscape Mass Planting Specimen or Focal PointPlant Brand: Proven WinnersBotanical/Scientific Name: Caryopteris incana 'DCARBEYBAR' USPPAF | Bushes > Bluebeard Proven Winners CARBPQT
